Paul Stoddart, a former F1 team director and expert columnist, says that McLaren and Williams did well at the British GP, but he thinks that Mercedes and Ferrari may have been disappointed.
The real stars of the British Grand Prix were McLaren and Williams. Max Verstappen won the race easily, which is not surprising these days, but second place is where the real action is.
This weekend, the main thing to remember is that McLaren made some improvements. Everyone probably wasn’t surprised that they worked in Austria because it’s a track where McLaren has always done well.
But Silverstone really showed how far they’ve come, and I think for the rest of the year they’ll be a force to be reckoned with. Not at every track, for sure, but definitely best of the rest.

Williams, on the other hand, was the other star of the weekend. Alex Albon’s performance and even Logan Sergeant’s performance in some of the sessions were both pretty amazing. They are now in seventh place in the Constructors’ Championship, which is the best place they could be this year. We’re not even halfway there yet, but they’re already there, so I think they deserve a lot of credit.
This weekend, Oscar Piastri possibly proved for the first time that he belongs where he is and that he will be the Rookie of the Year and do pretty well. Lando Norris is a good partner, but he’s tough, and he’s settled in well at McLaren, so I think Piastri did a great job this weekend.
Fernando Alonso is still very happy with Aston Martin, and I think he’ll keep delivering. He won’t get what he wanted, which was to be on the podium at every race, but I think he’ll still finish the year in third place, which isn’t too bad.

Mercedes was in last place and probably would have stayed there if not for the Safety Car, which moved Lewis Hamilton up to third, but I don’t think they did well all weekend.
The New Yorker Things things things like things – things – s s The things – They were things like things things – – s It looks like things. I thought they had a hard weekend. They need to figure out what’s wrong with them. Nothing is wrong with their lineup of drivers. They have drivers who are good. The car just doesn’t work.
The race between second and fourth is very close, and the race between fourth and eighth is even closer. Even though Max has pretty much already won the title, I think the rest of the season will be exciting.
