Katie Taylor is one of the first women to box professionally. Her name will be remembered for a long time because she helped make the sport famous. But for now, her long and successful career may be in danger.
Taylor lost her first professional fight when she finally went back to her hometown in Dublin earlier this year. Chantelle Cameron of England shocked the 37-year-old Taylor in the highly-anticipated undisputed lightweight title fight at the 3Arena.
The 2012 Olympic gold medalist will have the chance to make things right again on November 25 in front of her home crowd in the Irish capital. The two will fight again, and this time it looks like it will be another fight for the ages.
People who want to bet on Chantelle Cameron vs. Katie Taylor might be more interested in the English fighter because of how their first fight went. But KT is determined to make things right, and with so much at stake, she might just be able to do it.

Now, let’s look at some of her more recent fights.
Chantelle Cameron—Lost by a large margin
Taylor called out undisputed super-lightweight queen Cameron on social media after her second fight with undisputed featherweight Amanda Serrano fell through because Serrano got hurt.
The fight was quickly set up, and promoter Eddie Hearn announced that it would happen at the 3Arena. It was Taylor’s first professional fight in her home country.
The Irishwomen were very likely to win, but Cameron was the better fighter over 10 rounds. Hitting some hard shots to the body and head and winning by majority decision (94–96, 94–96, 95–95).
Karen Carabajal – Won by a vote of all voters
Katie Taylor won a close decision over Karen Elizabeth Carabajal at Wembley Arena in October 2022 to defend her WBO, WBA, WBC, and IBF lightweight belts for the seventh time.
The Argentine had never lost in 19 fights before this one. It was her first fight outside of Argentina and her first fight against a top-level opponent.
Carabajal wasn’t good enough; she was outboxed and defeated by a large margin. The judges gave it scores of 98–92, 99–91, and 100–91.
Amanda Serrano won by a vote of two to one.
Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano was the first women’s boxing match to be the main attraction at New York’s famous Madison Square Garden, and it did not fail. In fact, many people say it helped make boxing popular.
There were high hopes for this fight, and it certainly lived up to them. Taylor beat Serrano by scores of 97–93, 96–93, and 94–96, giving him a split-decision win.
In New York, the nine-time world winner in seven weight classes looked like she was going to stop Taylor. But the Irishwomen fought hard and turned the fight around in the last few rounds, earning a huge victory on the judges’ scorecards.
It would be a shame if these two never fought again in a big rematch. Taylor’s return with Cameron is the most important one.
