FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifier: Pakistan vs Cambodia in Islamabad

Date:

Something good for football fans in Pakistan as they get ready to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier match, which has not happened in 12 years. Pakistan will play Cambodia in a much-anticipated match on October 17 at Islamabad’s famous Jinnah Stadium.

Kickoff for this important home league game between Pakistan and Cambodia is set for 2 p.m. local time.

Additionally, AFC Match Commissioner Kemel Tokabaev went to the Jinnah Stadium on September 20 to watch the preparations and make sure everything was set up for this crucial qualifier match.

Returning FIFA World Cup Qualifiers to Pakistan is a big deal for football in that country. Pakistan has not held a World Cup qualifier since 2011, when they played Bangladesh.

Because of this, football-loving countries have been eagerly waiting for another chance to watch international football on their own land. For their last international friendly, Pakistan welcomed Afghanistan in 2015.

Notably, the first match between the two teams will take place on October 12 in Cambodia.

The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) revealed earlier that they would be sending 25 players to the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifier.

Newly hired coach Stephen Constantine put together the team. He will lead the Men in Green in the World Cup Qualifiers.

Along with Saqib Hanif, Adnan Yaqoob, and former captain Hassan Bashir, Constantine has made some interesting choices for his first job as head coach.

But key players like Otis Kha, Easah Suliman, and Rao Umar Hayat are called up.
